How did it go, Gowanus Open Studios 2013 (GOS 2013)?
This year’s Gowanus Open Studios 2013 was a huge success. We had over 230 artists participate (a record-number for this event) and over 5,000 visitors.
Thank you to the thousands of people who came to Gowanus to see the art and experience the creative energy of our neighborhood. We loved having you. If you are trying to remember a particular artist, you can visit our Artist Directory here, or send an email and we’ll help make the connection.

What is Gowanus Open Studios 2013 (GOS 2013)?
GOS 2013 takes place October 18-20, 2013.
Over 200 artist studios will be open to the public on Saturday, October 19, and Sunday, October 20, from noon to 6pm. Additional special events take place during the weekend.
For one weekend each year, artists working in the former factories, warehouses and studio buildings in Gowanus invite the public to visit their studios, see their work, and talk about their process. Last year 150 artists welcomed over 3,000 visitors into their studios. GOS 2013 is presented by Arts Gowanus, a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization made up of artists and arts organizations working to support each other, strengthen connections to our community, and to ensure the Gowanus neighborhood continues to be a thriving and creative community of art-makers and art-appreciators.
Visitors create their own self-guided tours during this FREE event. Our website will feature all participating artists with samples of their art (Click here for the Directory of Artists and Map of Studios). Visitors can select artists to visit by perusing our website and/or pick up a map at one of our designated map distribution locations, or printing out their own map at home. Balloons and signs will identify each open studio building. Everyone is welcome.
This year, in addition to the daytime walking tour of the studios (Saturday and Sunday from noon-6pm), we will also offer several evening performances of music and dance to showcase the many forms of art-making in the Gowanus Neighborhood. (Click here for this year’s special events.)
GOS is made possible by volunteers, artists, and community members working together.
